When our lead photographer Wayne Becker approached me about an upcoming wedding I would be shooting alongside Chad Zerbe, I was curious to know his thoughts on the couple. He simply replied with, “You will love them”. Wayne explained to me that bride Deanne Felix had one of the bubbliest personalities which blended well with her fiancé Cody Rahn’s relaxed energy. After meeting them myself, it was quite evident that those two are a match made in heaven.
With the wedding day upon us, we traveled to the beautiful Bern Farm, a rustic venue in Reading. We enjoyed this venue as it offered everything we needed in order to document Deanne and Cody’s special day.
I first met with Deanne in the bridal suite where she was preparing for her day alongside her helpful ladies. I couldn’t help but notice her smile radiate through the entire room. It was quite clear that she had been waiting for this moment for a very long time as she was helped into her stunning wedding dress.
Cody, an Assistant Chief at Leesport Fire Company, is a not only a great compliment to Deanne’s bubbly personality; he’s also very photogenic!
More recently, I have noticed a growing trend with brides wanting to do a first look with their fathers. Our team LOVES first looks and it is even more enjoyable when we get to witness two in one day. Deanne had made the choice to do the first look with her father and it was quite special! Her father’s eyes were filled with tears of excitement. The moment the two shared was real and beyond beautiful. As someone who doesn’t know their relationship quite well, I could tell he was one of her best friends.
Next came the moment Cody and Deanne were both waiting for, the bride and groom first look. A beautiful intimate moment was shared between the two, and at this point it was quite evident that our day was going to be great.
Following their first look, we had the opportunity to photograph our fun couple around the Bern Farm grounds. This venue is just picture-perfect and we were so lucky to have a super photogenic couple to capture!
Their bridal party was a blast to work with and continued to keep Cody and Deanne’s day enjoyable.
By 3:00pm, the ceremony began inside Bern Farm’s indoor ceremony hall and lasted a little over twenty minutes. However, time didn’t matter to either Cody or Deanne as they were both enjoying every single moment. Once announced as husband and wife, the two shared a long kiss. My heart was filled for these two and I couldn’t wait to continue the night with them!
The night continued to flow as the reception began in the beautiful main barn. The happy couple shared their first dance and then each took a moment to share a dance with their mother and father.
After toasts, prayer and dinner it was time for the cake! Cody and Deanne had no fear in smashing cake in each other’s face. It was quite a funny moment and I’m happy we captured it perfectly!
At the end of our stay with Cody and Deanne their smiles were larger than life. I decided to photograph one final photo to end their wedding perfectly. With a beautiful twilight sky, we captured a picturesque scene to cap off an amazing wedding.
I was very thankful to have been a part of their special day! I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this lovely couple.

“Born and raised on a family farm, you would never expect me to be a photographer. My first camera was bought for me at the age of ten and while traveling to many county fairs with my family, I developed a talent for photographing livestock. As I grew more and gained experience, I began to widen my horizons with other styles of photography. I adore all the numerous emotions that are given off of the memories I capture, and I can’t wait to share them with you.”
