The Wednesday before Julia Flipo and Josue Ramos May 19th wedding, the weather report called for a 100% chance of rain. As a photographer, you always have to be prepared for inclement weather and therefore we called Julia and laid out the plans for a rain soaked wedding day. Her disappointment was palpable, but she was confident in the fact that we would be able to make it work no matter the conditions.

Our day began very rainy with Julia and her bridesmaids over at United Artists Salon and Spa to photograph their hair and makeup preparations. Julia showed excitement for her wedding day but definitely was disheartened by the falling rain. Luckily, she had a great group of girls with her to keep her spirits high.

After her hair and makeup were complete, everyone moved over to the Crowne Plaza to finish all of their preparations. This gave us the opportunity to photograph some important details that Julia had requested we capture. As photographers, we consider wedding detail images to be some of the most important images of the day.

At 3pm, the rain slowly began to taper off just in time for us to meet with Josue over at the Reading Public Museum. He wasn’t nervous at this point thanks to his fun group of groomsmen.

Just before the ceremony, both Julia and Josue’s expressed nervousness as they wanted everything to go smooth. Their ceremony began just after 5pm on the 2nd floor of the Museum and everything fell into place with no hiccups throughout. The brief ceremony was highlighted by their contagious smiles and ever present happiness around one-another.

Julia and Josue had a wonderful group of people in their wedding party. Each were truly helpful throughout the day. This made their photographs a wonderful experience.

With the rain becoming a mist, we decided to head outside for portraits with the newlyweds. It was definitely difficult to capture unique images in this setting; however we did everything we could to give them something special and elegant.

Julia was extremely specific that she wanted a photo on the marble staircase and we were happy to photograph that gorgeous setting!

As the reception began, it was quite evident how happy Julia and Josue were with their day. Their smiles radiated throughout the evening through their dancing a mingling with friends and family. Not even rain could ruin their day.

Julia was very adamant that she wanted to dance the night away and she definitely delivered. The only formal events the two participated in were their first dance and cake cutting. It was a refreshing approach to watch a couple enjoy their night with their guests instead of getting pulled away for events throughout the night.

By 9pm, the reception had drawn to a close. It was one of the fastest nights we’ve had all season because of how much fun was had. Before they began the clean-up efforts, we took the couple outside for a night photo on the famous red bridge on the museum grounds. This is an old staple photo that we have done countless times before; however we do make every single one special in their own way. It’s a beautiful way to end a wonderful night with two brilliant people.

Julia and Josue were so very grateful at the end of the night for all we did throughout the day. In all honesty, we as the photographers, were the grateful ones. These two were nothing short of exceptional throughout the day. With the conditions outside not great, these two could have shut down and not enjoyed their wedding day. Instead they made it phenomenal with their smiles present all day long. We were so much honored to be a part of their special day, and we can’t wait to work with them more in the future.
