The Wedding of Rebecca Ulsh and Matt Doran

Doran Wedding - Wedding Photos taken by Dave Zerbe Photography

I find it to be quite astonishing when a bride is on top of everything at her wedding because it is NOT an easy job. Our bride, Rebecca Ulsh is one of those women and in our eyes she made it look completely effortless.

This all began when Rebecca sent us an itinerary of events for her special day as well as a list of all her family formals a week before the wedding. It is always a great relief to know that things had a pace and an order. This makes our job even easier and allows us to focus on all the couples wants and needs.

However, this wedding could not have been complete without Rebecca’s new husband Matt Doran. Matt lit up the room with his contagious laugh. There was not a single moment where we questioned why Rebecca fell in love with him. There is no doubt that he will be an amazing and loving husband to her.

Their love for one another is contagious and is a reason why we love doing our job!

Here is a peak of their wedding day through our eyes!

We started our morning over at the Homewood Suites in Wyomissing. On arrival, we found a room filled with bridesmaids ready to photograph. I can’t rave enough about how great Rebecca’s wedding party was. Both the bridesmaids and the groomsmen were great and really helped out throughout the day.

I am a huge fan of wedding dresses with designs as they just photograph so beautifully. Rebecca also had a special hanger made for the dress which helped make the dress look even more special.

Rebecca had sent us a list of images she wanted photographed on her wedding day. We do recommend that clients send us a list of wants and must haves as this gives us more ideas throughout the day. Here, Rebecca wanted a beautiful backlit photograph of her and the flower girl under her veil which ended up looking amazing in black and white.

I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. Long hallway photographs just always find a way to look stunning. This photograph was backlit with an external flash positioned behind the bride helping to silhouette the veil and dress. The late Dave Zerbe was known for loving to photograph an image like this over at the Homewood, and we were happy to carry on with that tradition.

Matt was extremely calm when we caught up with him over at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Mohnton. He was very confident which attested to how organized Rebecca was on this day.

I was exceptionally happy to be able to capture this ring exchange moment. It’s not always easy to capture!

This was one of the best bubble exits I have ever been a part of. Every single person that attended was blowing bubbles while cheering for the bride and groom, and they sure enjoyed themselves walking out of the church to this.

After the ceremony and family formals, we made our way over to the Reading Public Museum to photograph with the wedding party. I started with Rebecca and Matt first, asking them to pose themselves for this set of images and I wasn’t really surprised when they decided to put their foreheads together. “It’s something we do a lot” ,Rebecca explained to me during their engagement photos last fall.

Rebecca was just a stunning bride!

On Rebecca’s list of images she wanted was a photo of the wedding party looking at the bride and groom kissing. This image was really fun and we were happy to put our own little twist on it.

The first dance was to a song rerecorded by Rebecca and Matt. It is the first time I have ever had a bride and groom sing their first dance song. The emotion was just amazing though and the couple looked so very much in love with each other.

The Maid of Honor and Best Man were really great for the bride and groom. They were always there to help and never complained once about all the work that it took to be these two important people on this day.

Sunset… It’s one thing you just can’t miss during a wedding. If you have an opportunity to take your bride and groom out to photograph during this moment, don’t hesitate, the results will be fantastic.

Night photographs are a fun way to end our night with the bride and groom. These nighttime photos were taken in front of the fountain at the Reading Country Club.

This photograph is just too amazing not to include in this blog. Our photojournalist, Kaylie, was able to capture this stunning moment while using an external flash to backlight the couple while they were dancing. Kaylie is newer to photography and the business, but has the artistic styles of a photographer with years of experience. All in all, our future wedding couples are in great hands.

It was a great day on Saturday June 6th. Rebecca and Matt were such a wonderful couple to work with as was their entire wedding party and family. I cannot rave enough about east of a day we had photographing. A huge thank you goes out to Rebecca and Matt for their organization and constant confidence in us as the photographers. We look forward to working with these two in the very near future.
